It's a pleasure to see the beautiful homes that have been cared for and restored. Unfortunately, sometimes right next door to a well cared for house, there is one that has obviously been a rental unit for years. If you've ever been in the market for a rental unit, you know that the inside of these houses match the outside. Every time I see or live in a house in such state I dream about the changes that could be made. This blog is an exposé of those houses in Provo that need to be fixed up.

Duct Duct Goose
Ok Ok, so the owners of this house had to make the heating separate for the upstairs and downstairs apartments for the house to legally be a duplex. There's one of these in each of the rooms in this basement apartment.
Was a slab of wood really the best option?!

Hole-y Somewhere
Ok, so I know there's not a hole visible in this picture, but I figure there's got to be a hole somewhere causing this ripple effect. Another note about this picture: This wall is in a basement and it's made of fake wood paneling which was then wall paper-ed over, which was then painted over...multiple times. Add water damage, and you've got the recipe for a wonderful wall.
Caption says: Fake wood paneling + wall paper + several coats of paint + water damage = squishy

Exposed Exteriors
I walk by this house all the time when I walk my dog. I'm surprised it's still standing. Unfortunately this is one of those houses that would be cheaper to tear down than to repair. I don't wish this on many houses around here, however I'm hoping whoever owns this one tears it down (but please don't build a McMansion in its place).

Duct Duct Gecko?
Someone posted this on facebook and I thought it would be an appropriate filler for today's post. I am low on ductwork pictures to celebrate Duct Duct Goose Thursday. If you have any ductwork that should be spotlighted on this blog, please email it to projectprovo@gmail.com
